Approach

A whole-person approach to treatment

I work with psychotherapy, medication and functional assessment together.

  1. Psychotherapy

I offer a safe space in which you can understand your mental and emotional processes more deeply, recognise recurring patterns and meet life's difficulties with greater flexibility. In a therapy process shaped around you, we aim to move beyond symptoms towards self-awareness and a lasting emotional balance.

  2. Pharmacotherapy (adjusting medication)

Taking the biological basis of psychiatric conditions into account, I plan evidence-based, personalised medication where it is needed. The aim is not simply to start a medication: it is to follow its effect regularly, keep side effects to a minimum and improve your quality of life in the safest way.

  3. Assessment from a functional perspective

Mental health is shaped not only by mental and emotional processes but also, directly, by the complex biochemical balance of the body. In a whole-person, functional approach to psychiatry, sleep patterns and active physical movement matter, and so do critical biochemical values such as thyroid hormones, B12, vitamin D, folate, iron, zinc and magnesium: they are the building blocks for the synthesis of brain chemicals (neurotransmitters) and for the steady work of the nervous system. A deficiency or imbalance at the cellular level can surface as psychological symptoms such as fatigue, difficulty concentrating, anxiety and mood swings. Routine blood tests therefore matter a great deal, both to identify the physiological causes that may underlie your symptoms and to understand the root cause at the cellular level, so that the treatment plan can be built around you.

Frequently asked questions

What you may be wondering

The most frequently asked questions about the treatment process, with answers.

What happens in the first session?
In the first session we hold a detailed conversation to get to know you, understand your concerns and review your history. It usually lasts 45–60 minutes. At the end of the session you are informed about the treatment plan that suits you.
Are sessions confidential?
Yes. All sessions are conducted under the principle of absolute confidentiality. Under professional ethics and legal regulations, the content of sessions is not shared with third parties.
Do I have to take medication?
Every treatment plan is individual. In some cases psychotherapy alone is enough, while in others medication may also be needed. That decision is made together after the assessment, and the approach best suited to you is planned.
How often are sessions held?
Frequency depends on your treatment plan. Weekly sessions are usually recommended at the start, and the intervals can be extended as the process progresses.
How do I book an appointment?
You can book by phone (0232 404 26 27), by WhatsApp or through the online appointment form on this page.
